Guest Posters?

I'm thinking of having some of my commenters as guest posters.  I would use them when work prevent me from contributing.

What do you think?  Any volunteers?

If I have a believer contribute, should I have a non-believer  reply and vice-versa for a fairness?

  1. That would be a really cool idea, especially after a book is finished. Like we have just finished Genesis so maybe if a couple of different belief backgrounds write and tell their feelings of the text.

  2. It could work no doubt. But don't let it become a cop out, I'd also set up some rules about much people can right.

  3. Are you asking to fill in occasionally to frame up the day's reading and ask the questions? Sure I can do that. My personal/work schedule can be wonky at times so I might be less valuable if you need impromptu fill-ins, but I could do it if I have a day or so heads up.

It would be interesting if commenters from multiple points of view could write specific, in-depth articles. Some extra-bible background (Mideastern culture during Biblical times, how early Christian leaders chose specifics books, etc) pop to mind but might be too ambitious?

  4. I nominate BetterThanEsdras! Educating us is much more important than free time! ;)

On a more serious note, we already have a believer/non discussion carrying on in the comments. Guest posters could help vary the tone/direction in the introduction to the readings.

  5. Count me in. I could definitely pinch-hit.

I've planned doing something *kind of* like that at my site. (My "future projects", only one of which I've actually started.) I don't want to steal the idea, but I'd be open to guest essays/posts.

Also, the website www.rejectionofpascalswager.net already has a wealth of information on similar topics. But you can never have too much atheist bible study!

  6. interesting idea. I am a big fan of group blogs but i think you should do what you want to do. i think great discussion is happening in comments.

if i am really honest, this is your project––thanks for letting us view the process but i lean towards you making the posts and letting us discuss in the comments.

but it's your blog, you set the parameters.

  8. I'd be willing to help out. My own family is catholic, but I've prayed to the pillow every Sunday since high school. In college I took a few religious studies classes in college (a little St. Augustine/Thomas Aquinas and a lot of buddhism/taoism). Also, I can make the time to post if there's a crunch.
